Hailakandi administration allocates essential items to beneficiaries

Hailakandi, Nov 23: The Hailakandi district administration has allotted essential commodities to the beneficiaries for the months of November and December. The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Government of Assam, has earmarked sufficient quantity of rice, kerosene and iodised salt to the Samabay samities, wholesalers, retailers and fair price shops for distribution to the beneficiaries in Hailakandi district, stated a press release. Under AntodayaAn Yoja, 35 kg of rice a month are allotted to a beneficiary and Rs 5 kg per head at Rs 3 a kg to a priority household card holder under NFSA for the month of December. The quantity of kerosene has been raised from 1 litre to l.5 litre per head for hawkers and from 1.5 litre to 2.6 litreto a card holder for the month of November. One kg iodised salt has been allotted to a card holder. Around 1119.17 quintals of salt have been allotted for the month of November, covering 1,28,935 households. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Moloy Bora has warned that strict action would be taken against those found pilfering the items and creating artificial scarcity. Bora has directed the officers concerned to ensure that the items are lifted on time and distributed properly among the beneficiaries.
