Hailakandi BDO suspended

GUWAHATI, Dec 9: The state government has placed Mainul Haque Choudhury, Block Development Officer, Hailkandi Development Block, Hailakandi with effect from October 27.  As reported by the Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi, Choudhury was arrested on October 27 in connection with Hailakandi P.S Case No. 412/2016 U/S 120 (B)/409/468/418/420 IPC and forwarded to judicial custody and he remained in Judicial Custody for more than 48 hours.  Rule 6(2) of the Assam Service (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1964 envisages that any Govt. Servant if detained in Police Custody, whether on a crimil charge or otherwise for a period exceeding 48 hours shall be deemed to have been suspended w.e.f the date of such detention by an order of the Appointing Authority and shall remain under suspension until further orders.
