Hailakandi DC asks people to remain alert against rumours, fake news

Hailakandi, June 10: Following spread of rumours and fake news circulated purportedly by certain organizations and elements on social media over the past few days leading to tension in different parts of the State, the Hailakandi district administration has asked people to remain alert and vigil against such forces hell bent on creating disturbance in the society.

Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan has appealed to the people not to be swayed by rumours and misinformation campaign by certain elements. Khan sought the cooperation of all, including the media, to quell such misinformation propaganda and to maintain peace and tranquillity across the district.

Khan said the administration would not spare anyone found unleashing misinformation to create law-and-order problem. The Deputy Commissioner asked the people to report any incident to the nearest police station immediately. There has been no report of any such incident in the district so far. However, the district administration is taking no chances and is keeping a close tab on social media.
