Hailakandi DC bats for eco-friendly Durga Puja

Hailakandi, Sept 30: This year’s Durga Puja in Hailakandi district will centre round the theme ‘Environment friendly’. Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi, Moloy Bora has appealed to the Puja Committees to focus on ‘environment friendly puja’ to keep the environment clean and green and most importantly to drive home the message loud and clear that ‘human beings will survive only if environment exists and one must live in communion with ture by making it pollution free’. Keeping in harmony with the central theme, Deputy Commissioner Bora has given orders for setting up of a committee comprising three members, including a leading citizen to adjudge the best three puja pandals of the district. “The criteria for selection will be based on maintence of cleanliness, pollution free environment, discipline and obedience of law by puja committees,” Bora said. Awards will be given away jointly by Deputy Commissioner, Bora and Superintendent of Police, Prabjyoti Goswami.
