Hailakandi DC oversees arrangements for smooth conduct of immersion

Hailakandi, Oct 8: With the immersion day round the corner, the Hailakandi district administration has geared itself up to ensure smooth immersion of over 200 deities at several immersion ghats across the district. Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi, Moloy Bora has asked the officials to leave no stone unturned to build temporary platforms to ensure smooth conduct of immersion of deities without any hiccups. Bora on Saturday visited the immersion ghat near Gandhi Ghat opposite Sadar Police Station in Hailakandi town to oversee the arrangements being made, stated a press release. The Deputy Commissioner will inspect the immersion ghat at Panchgram with senior officials in tow tomorrow. More than 20 deities will be immersed here. “Special care has to be taken so that no untoward incident takes place anywhere,” he told the officials. Arrangements are also being made for immersion at Lala where construction of a temporary platform is in progress. The police administration will set up a control room at the immersion ghat in Hailakandi town on October 11. Deputy Commissioner Bora will oversee the overall law-and-order situation in the entire district with District Development Commissioner, TT Daolagupu put in charge of Lala, Katlicherra and Ramthpur areas, ADC, Amalendu Roy for Algapur and Panchgram and ADC, Ruth Lienthang for Hailakandi.
