Hamro Sikkim Party Releases Third List of Candidates

Guwahati: Biraj Adhikari, a senior politician of Sikkim and Spokesperson of Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP) will contest from the lone Lok Sabha seat of Sikkim.

Adhikari will also contest in the Assembly election from Rhenock constituency in East Sikkim from HSP party. He is also an engineer and is in active politics over two decades and contested the Lok Sabha election in 2004 from the Congress party.

The HSP announced its third list of candidates on Tuesday for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and Parliamentary election. The list of candidates has been released for the four assembly constituencies and one Lok Sabha seat in the state.

Rudra Khatiwara who is a senior politician joined HSP recently after leaving the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party and will contest from Chujechen in East Sikkim in the assembly election. The other candidates who will contest from HSP party are Phurkit Lepcha from Yuksom-Tashiding in West Sikkim and Sangay Chopel Bhutia from Gnathang-Machong constituency in East Sikkim.

Adhikari, while addressing a press conference on Tuesday said that his main agenda would be the protection and strengthening of the Article 371F. He also alleged that the SDF government has violated and diluted the old laws and the Article 371F in different occasions in 25 years. He also asked the people of Sikkim to support HSP for the protection and further strengthening the Article 371F.

Adhikari further alleged that the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Pawan Chamling has failed to work for Sikkim and its people and said that rampant corruption has been going on during the last 25 years of SDF government. He further said that the mission of HSP is to make 'New Sikkim' and it is the only party having leaders of clean image.

Adhikari further informed that the party will declare all its 32 candidates in the next few days adding that the party has been going on a door-to-door campaign in different areas across the state.

It has been alleged by Khatiwara that other political parties in Sikkim have been misleading and deceiving youths through propaganda.
