Handloom exhibition kicks off at Tinsukia

TINSUKIA, May 6: A seven-day Handloom Exhibition organized by Tinsukia District Industry and Commerce Centre kicked off here today. Tinsukia MLA Rajendra Prasad Singh iugurated the exhibition. Around 30 handicraft artistes have participated in the in the exhibition. “The objective of the exhibition is to uplift the weavers community by creating new markets and also by making them economically strong,” said an official of the Centre. Weavers have displayed an array of handloom silk and cotton sarees, dress materials, kurtas, stoles, home furnishings and also a collection of designer wear in Indian handloom in the exhibition.
