Hands on training held in SS College

Silchar, March 25: The department of Zoology, S. S. College, Hailakandi, has organised hands on training on Basic Bioinformatics and a guest lecture on ‘social behavior with reference to non-human primate’ on March 20 and March 21 under the fincial aegis from DBT, Governmentt of India sponsored star college scheme, in the college premises.

The iugural function was conducted by DebasishGuhathakurata, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry and the programme was presided over by M. A. Karim, Vice Principal, S. S. College, Hailakandi.

P.K. Dutta, HOD Zoology, delivers the welcome address. Dr. Rupam Sen, Coorditor, Star College Project, S. S. College, Hailakandi explained the aims and objectives of Star college project of DBT, Government of India.

Prof. M. Dutta Choudhury, the chief guest of the programme underscored the necessity of such hands on training for the students. Vote of thanks was delivered by Himabrata Chakravarty, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, S. S. College, Hailakandi.

In the first technical session, Dr. Parthankar Choudhury, Associate Professor, Department of Ecology and Environmental Science, Assam University, Silchar, delivered the key note address on the focal theme.

In the 2nd Session Prof. M. Dutta Choudhury, Coorditor DBT Sponsored Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility, Assam University Silchar spoke on the computer aided drug designing, tools and techniques.

Dr. Pankaj Chetia, Assistant Professor, Department of Life Science, Dibrugarh University, has conducted the hands on training session on basic bioinformatics tools, which is a modern field in the are of biological sciences. Altogether 31 students participated in the said programme.

The valedictory session was presided over by P. K. Dutta.

Pik Pani th Choudhury, Programme Coorditor and Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, expressed his gratitude to all for support and cooperation. The Principal of the college Dr. A. K. Das, congratulated the department on successful completion of the programme.
