Hardcore crimils arrested

Shillong, January 9: The special cell of Shillong city police has arrested a gang of crimils involved in looting and robbery in Lum Shillong–Shyllong peak area in the month of December last year.

There were at least two reported cases registered last month. One is the case of Wanlambok Kharkongor of Pomlakrai whose belonging and cash amounting to Rs 32,000 were stched by crimils. The other case was on December 25, when the gang attacked one Pherbak Wahlang and two of his acquaintances. The crimils then robbed all their mobiles, cash and the motorcycle.

 Interestingly, the same gang used the hijacked motorbike and made a failed attempt to stch a bag from a man who came out from SBI Police Bazar in the heart of the city.

Acting on the inputs, the special cell swung into action and arrested the three hard–core crimils involved in the series of crimes, some of which have gone unreported. The arrested hardcore crimils have been identified as Andy Lamin, Nima Lama and a minor. Another hardcore crimil mely Rencious Kharkongor is still absconding. Superintendent of Police (city) Vivek Syiem said, “They are involved in a number of unreported cases and he requested that those who have not submitted FIR against the persons may do so at the earliest convenience”.

 In another case, the police on Friday arrested an electrician of Dr H Gordon Robert Hospital for his alleged involvement in breaking the locker of the hospital and stealing cash and other documents. Acting on the FIR lodged on Wednesday, the police arrested the electrician identified as Richfield Kynta alias Hepe.

The police later recovered cash Rs 5000, 13(thirteen) passport size photographs, hacksaw blade and key locker,     cheque books and pass books of different banks, fixed deposit certificates and others documents from him.
