Hardcore robbers arrested

JOYSAGAR, July 21: A gang of hardcore robbers was arrested by the Kamrup Police acting on information received from Joysagar Police on Friday.

This gang was allegedly involved in many ATM robbery incidents throughout the State. The arrested robbers have been identified as Abhijit Borah (Joysagar), Ramen Dutta (Joysagar) and Pabitra Borah (Jamunaroad, Sivasagar). Four other members of the same gang of Guwahati have also been arrested.

A car (AS-04-N-6497) was also seized by the police team, sources said. Meanwhile, Joysagar Police also raided the house of another robber in the Namti area of Sivasagar on Friday night but he managed to flee. This robber was involved in a SBI ATM loot incident in Dolmukh Chariali of the town a week ago. Identified as Hassan Ali, this robber also duped a woman of Bihubar, Sivasagar and looted about Rs 1.65 lakh a week ago, police sources added.
