Hari rayan Barua Smriti Divas observed

DEMOW, August 23: Under the patroge of All Assam Village Defense Party (VDP) and Demow Police Station Committee observed the Smriti Divas of Hari rayan Barua, founder of the Village Defense Party (VDP) in Demow Police Station on Tuesday with a day-long programme.

As per the programme, on Tuesday morning a cleanliness drive was organized in the Demow Police Station. The flag of the Village Defense Party (VDP) was hoisted by Mohammad Abdul Razaque Khan, president of Demow Police Station Committee. The smiti tarpan was offered by Moni Mohan Koch, OC of Demow Police Station.

A sapling was planted by Aban Kumar Dutta, Circle Organizer of Village Defense Organization (COVDO) of Demow Police Station.  After the sapling plantation programme, the new building of the Village Defense Party (VDP) was iugurated by Debasis Sarmah, in-charge Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sivasagar district. A general meeting was also organized which was presided over by Luhit Saikia, retired Principal of Hem Chandra Deb Goswami College.

Kushal Dowari, MLA of Thowra Constituency and Sushanta Borgohain, former MLA of Thowra Constituency, were present in the meeting as invited guests. Kushal Dowari, MLA of Thowra constituency, lauded the members of Village Defense Party (VDP) who work but do not get salary and regarding this, he promised that he would talk with the State Government. Gha Kanta Gogoi, former Principal of Demow Higher Secondary School, was present in the meeting as specific orator.
