Hasan Muhammad Wazir Ali: A tribute

Hasan Muhammad Wazir Ali, a beloved human being, left this world on this very day in 2000. A man of amiable disposition, Hasan was soft-spoken and affectiote. He was loved and respected by all sections of people.

Second son of late Firoz Ali, the then Extra Assistant Commissioner of Sivasagar, Hasan Muhammad Wazir Ali was born at zira in 1939. He had his early education at Sivasagar and passed his matriculation examition in 1955. He had his graduation in Arts from Sivasagar College winning a gold medal in English.

While at College, Hasan took active part in all extra-curricular activities, particularly in sports. He had great interest in cricket and represented Sivasagar district in several cricket tourments. He was also a good debater.

Hasan had to give his academic, as he had to shoulder the responsibility of maintaining the family due to the premature and sudden death of his father. By virtue of his ability, talent and merit, he was able to get a job under the Oil & tural Gas Commission (ONGC).

In recognition to his meritorious service, he was regularly promoted and in 1979, he became the Administrative Officer of the Establishment Branch of the ONGC.

In 1982, he was promoted as the Joint Director (P&A) which is now redesigted as Mager (P&A). It may be mentioned that Hasan was the first Assamese to become the Joint Director ((P&A) under the Eastern Region Business Centre (ERBC) of the ONGC.

In 1993, Hasan went to voluntary retirement, thus putting an end to his chequered career as an employee under the ONGC. After his retirement, Hasan was appointed as a Representative by the Apple Valley Tea Company, a noted tea company of South India.

On this auspicious of his death anniversary, we pray again for the eterl peace of his departed soul. Amen.
