HC to hear Maken's plea on government ads on July 29

New Delhi, July 27: Delhi High Court on Monday posted for July 29 a plea by Congress leader Ajay Maken seeking restraint on advertisements allegedly glorifying Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP. Due to the lawyers’ strike in the high court, a division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice Jayant th posted the case for Wednesday. The bench had earlier asked the central government counsel about the steps taken on the Supreme Court guidelines issued in May on government advertisements. Maken had filed a public interest litigation before the high court, seeking direction to restrain the Delhi government from airing its recent audio-visual advertisement. Maken, who heads the Congress unit in Delhi, also sought direction to restrain the Delhi government from publishing Kejriwal’s me in any of its current or future advertisements. (IANS)
