SHILLONG, Sept 3: Headmen from seven villages affected by the MUDA building bye-laws today express their shock to witness criticism pouring in from various sections of society towards HPSPD vice President Ardent M Basaiamoit.

The Delegation led by F. Sohtun Chairman Pomlakrai Pyllun included Headmen from Mawtharia Pomlakrai, Nongkrem Kynton, Liewlong, Rngishyllong, Mawbyn, Pdengshnong and Laitkor.

“We feel proud that our MLA and MDC from our constituency Ardent M Basaiamoit has taken up this issue in order to help remove the many problems faced by his people due to the notification published by the state government on 5 January 2015,” F. Sohtun Chairman Pomlakrai Pyllun said.

He said that they are also overjoyed to see that through the courage of Basaiamoit in taking up this issue he was able to convince the state government to scrap the 5 January notification on Building bye-laws and the government had to come up with a new modified notification.

“Since the problems we have been facing have been removed by Basaiamoit and his group of supporters that is why we have decided not to attend the Dorbar bah at Polo Ground on 5 September,” he said adding that they would also like to appeal towards those who are opposing the notification on MUDA building bye-laws issued by the state government that they should come out in the open to oppose the government and to urge their respective MLAs, MDCs, Headman, various NGOs to take up this issue seriously instead of just commenting through newspaper.
