Health cards demanded for former MLAs

MANGALDAI, Oct 27: The State Association of Ex-MLAs has appealed to the Assam Government to introduce free health cards for former legislators as a means of fincial relief in case of costly medical treatment for diseases of serious ture, including  heart attack, disorder of kidney and cancer among others.

In a statement issued here by the president of the State Ex-MLAs’ Association, Dr gendra th Sharma pointed out that  like a common citizen, a former public representative also faced  serious fincial crisis while dealing with costly medical treatment for diseases of serious ture.  Sometimes the family members of a former legislator had to sell their persol belongings  to cater to the need of exorbitant medical expenses. President Dr. Sharma requested the Chief Minister and the Speaker of the State Assembly to sympathetically look into their appeal to issue health cards and also reimburse the medical expenses till the issue of health cards was settled.

The statement also prayed for the early recovery of former two-time AGP legislator from Borchola LAC  in Sonitpur district and a dedicated  leader of the Assam Agitation, Prafulla Goswami who has been undergoing treatment in GNRC, North Guwahati  since the last  one week after being admitted in a critical condition. Dr. Sharma termed his colleague Goswami  as an honest and committed  public representative.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister and founder president of AGP, Prafulla Kr Mahanta recently met the ailing former legislator  to take stock of the health condition and prayed for his early recovery.
