Health centre ransacked at Dimou Chariali

 FROM A CORRESPONDENT,

gaon, April 20: Tension prevailed in Phulaguri Primary Health Centre situated at Dimou Chariali after the alleged death of a youth without receiving treatment on Sunday night. This made the local people angry and an irate mob ransacked the health centre alleging negligence of duty by the resident doctor. Sources said that Manoj Deka (25), a resident of the Pub Salmara village became severely ill and felt pain in his head. The neighbours and the family members rushed him to the health centre which was only 100 metres away from Deka’s house. The people who brought Deka knocked on the door of the quarter of the resident doctor, Chandan Sarma several times but the doctor allegedly did not respond.  Within that time the patient died before receiving any treatment. The news of the death of the youth spread quickly among the villagers and the negligence of the doctor was also discussed. On Monday morning the irate villagers ransacked the health centre and demanded immediate suspension of the doctor. Police forces from Raha and gaon came to the health centre and brought the situation under control.
