'Health consciousness helps early detection of diseases'

From our Correspondent

Bongaigaon, May 12: As a part of the six-month long mission of Lower Assam Hospital and Research Centre to make Bongaigaon healthy, a health education and health check-up programme was held at Birjhora Tea Estate in Bongaigaon on Tuesday. The programme was organized by All Adivasi Students’ Union and sponsored by Lower Assam Hospital and Research Centre.

Dr Itesh Bardoloi, Chief Maging Partner of Lower Assam Hospital and Research Centre, said that health consciousness was poor among the Indian people. “We don’t go for regular health check-up and don’t maintain healthy routine also. That is why in most cases of hypertension, pressure and other such diseases, the detection is delayed. Our endeavor is not only to detect the patients and cure them, but also to make the all people health conscious so that the diseases can be detected and cured at an early stage,” he said.

Dr Bardoloi also said that through such camps they also wanted people to become politically and socially conscious. “People should know that what facilities they should get from the government and what schemes were made for their development. We will also try to tell people about all this in our camps and make people conscious about their rights,” he said.

More than 150 people attended the camp on Tuesday. Free iron and folic acid tablets were also distributed among the patients and Encephalitis vaccine was also administered.
