Heavy rains lash Northeastern states

Imphal, March 30: Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds and hailstorm lashed many parts of the northeastern region, weather officials said on Thursday. Similar weather will continue the next three days.
The rains have submerged the polo ground in Imphal, the oldest polo ground in the world. “As all drains in and around Imphal are clogged, the rain waters have submerged lanes, residential and public fields,” an official said. “Efforts are on to clear the clogging but due to the torrential rains, there is not much improvement.” Many parts of the city also experienced power cuts due to spping of transmission lines. Several houses were destroyed by hailstorm. (IANS)
