Heavy vehicles flouting rules in Pathsala

From a Correspondent

PATHSALA, Feb 1: In Pathsala town in Barpeta district, the Pathsala Police have installed signboards at every entry gate of the town area prohibiting entry of heavy vehicles carrying goods to the town area from 8 am to 8 pm. But it has been noticed that heavy vehicles enter the town area throughout the day without any obstacle, which in turn causes frequent traffic jam creating inconvenience to the common people, including students and office goers. Ambulances cannot reach on time due to these traffic srls.

Pathsala town, otherwise best known as an educatiol and cultural hub of the State, is also a well-known business centre with various government and private institutions, banks and business establishments, besides hospitals and headquarter town of Bajali subdivision, which regularly witnesses a huge rush of people with their two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

Under such circumstances, the main road is often choked with heavy traffic with little space left for free flow of vehicles. It has been noticed that commercial heavy vehicles enter the town area at any time by breaking rules. Such heavy vehicles are also a threat to light vehicles which highly increases the risks of fatal accidents.

The residents of Pathsala town have appealed to the authorities concerned to look into the matter and to take action against the heavy vehicles which enter the town from 8 am to 8 pm violating rules.
