Hectic preparation on for Nitin Gadkari's visit

JORHAT, Dec 27: Hectic preparations are on and elaborate security arrangement has been made at Jorhat, Majuli and areas near Kaziranga tiol Park ahead of the three-day visit of Union Minister for Road Transport nd Highways, Nitin Gadkari who will attend the flagging off ceremony of cargo transport at Majuli, said administrative sources on Wednesday.

The minister’s presence is expected as the NDA government’s New Year gift to the region and the State. However, the people of Golaghat, Jorhat and Majuli want the Union Minister to travel by road from Jorhat Airport to Majuli and Kaziranga instead of via air so that Gadkari, who is in-charge of the tiol Highways Authority could experience first-hand the condition of the road and the inconvenience the people have been facing for the past one-and-half year due to the sil’s pace of work at NH-37 from Numaligarh to Upper Assam, said Pankaj Baruah, a social activist.
