Heroin seized in Hailakandi

HAILAKANDI, Oct 21: Acting on a tip off, an Excise team led by Superintendent M. Amarendra th raided a grocery shop at Dancherra under Jamira Police outpost in Hailakandi district yesterday evening and arrested one Abdul Mazid (45) for possessing heroin weighing around 150 gms and other banned medicine and injections. The heroin stored in 267 small plastic containers was found underneath a mud floor of Mazid’s kitchen adjacent to the shop. Cash worth Rs 18,900 was also recovered from his possession. In-charge of Katlicherra Police Station, Johar Das accompanied the Excise team. Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi, Moloy Bora complimented th and the police personnel for the successful raid.
