High alert ahead of I-Day

KALAIGAON, July 31: Security has been beefed up in Kalaigaon to ensure peaceful Independence Day celebrations. Police have intensified checking and patrolling to thwart subversive activities. Police have also been kept on high alert in Bhergaon subdivision. Nirupam Hajarika, Subdivisiol Police Officer (SDPO) told media persons that adequate security measures had been made throughout the Bhergaon subdivision in six police stations like Kalaigaon, Tangla, Paneri, Khairabari, Dimakuchi and Harishingato ensure peaceful I-Day celebration. Three companies of paramilitary force along with Assam police personnel have been deputed to thwart extremists. SDPO Hajarika also urged the people to remain alert.
