High intensity tremor felt in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, Jan 4: Along with other north-eastern States and other parts of the State, high intensity earthquake, measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale, with epicentre near Imphal in Manipur, was also felt in Sivasagar in the wee hours of Monday. The tremor occurred at 4:36 am, sending scared residents fleeing into the streets.
Though there were reports of cracks in many residential buildings in Sivasagar town and adjacent areas, there was no report of any loss of life till filing of the report.
