High School Leaving Certificate, High Madrassa exams begin today

GUWAHATI: Altogether 3,52,143 candidates will appear in this year’s High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and High Madrassa (HM) examinations that will commence from Thursday. Of them, 3,42,702 will appear in the HSLC examination while 9,441 candidates have registered for the HM examination. There would be 857 centres with 11 venues across 38 zones. This was informed by SEBA (Board of Secondary Education Assam) officials here on Wednesday.

The Braille system has been implemented for the first time for the visually impaired candidates in the General Science examination. There are 13 such examinees in five centres across the State. Altogether 1,200 officers will be supervising the examinations.

CCTV monitoring of the halls and the centres is mandatory. Flying squads would be touring the centres. There would be daily online updates from the centres to the SEBA during the examination days. All forms of electronic gadgets including mobile phones and calculators have been banned for both the candidates as well as the invigilators during the examination time. Besides, candidates will not be allowed to leave the centres two hours from the commencement of the respective examinations.
