GUWAHATI, March 11: Her recent performance in the different intertiol competitions provides reward to Hima Das. The sprinter, hails from Assam, will participate in the three sprint events of the forthcoming Commonwealth Games which will be held in Gold Coast in Australia in April.

Indian athletics team for the forthcoming competition was announced on Saturday. Hima was selected for three events which are women’s 200mts, 400mts and 4X400 mts relay team and she will be the lone athlete in the 31-member Indian contingent who will run in three different events.

Talking to The Sentinel Nipon Das, the coach of Hima, today didn’t express any surprise on her inclusion in three separate events of the Commonwealth Games. “I am not surprised at all on this selection as I was expecting similar things. The girl was really working hard for the last a few months and regularly improving the timings in different categories.”

Das is also optimistic that Hima will bring medal from Commonwealth Games. “ I know her very well. Once she set the target she gives more than 100 percent to achieve it. Hima, during the recent conversation with me, told that she would try her best to win a medal from the championship and I can assure you that she would try her best to achieve it.”

The coach also added that the Indian athletic contingent, including Hima, will leave for Australia within next couple of days for pre-game training.
