Himalayan vulture dies in Demow

DEMOW, February 3: In Sivasagar district under Demow Forest Office in Panidehing Mouza west Panidehing area of Dalapa Galapathar gaon, many migratory Himalayan vultures (Griffon) were seriously injured and among them one died on the spot. According to sources in Galapathar gaon, some miscreants had put poison on a dead dog and after eating the flesh and carcass of the dog, a migratory Himalayan vulture died on the spot and eight migratory vultures were seriously ill. After the incident took place on Tuesday morning, the Forest Department of Sivasagar district along with local forest department of Demow and workers of an NGO reached the spot and sent the dead vulture for post mortem. The sick vultures were sent to Sivasagar for treatment.
