Himanta is an opportunist: Pradyut

MARGHERITA, April 2: The Congress organized an election meeting at the Udaipur Chowlung Chukafa Rangamancha in 124 No. Margherita LAC on Friday for former minister and Congress candidate Pradyut Bordoloi.

More than 15,000 people had gathered in the meeting.  Many senior Congress leaders such as Anil Sharma, former president of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee, Dr Anil Dwivedi,  Youth Congress leader from Delhi, Bhaskar Dahal, secretary of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Abhijit Mazumder, former leader of All Assam Bengali Youth Federation, Harish Sonowal, former IAS officer who joined the Congress recently, Lukam Tulum, senior citizen of Jagun region, Bhuban Handique, president of Margherita Block Congress Committee and Rani Bordoloi, wife of Pradyut Bordoloi, were also present.

Bhaskar Dahal, APCC secretary, said that the Congress government in Assam had done a lot for the uplift of the Gorkha community people living in Assam. Harish Sonowal  said that Pradyut Bordoloi in his 17-year term as 124 No Margherita LAC legislator, had done a lot for Margherita constituency.

Pradyut Bordoloi said in his speech that few days ago BJP leader Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma had come to Margherita to do election campaign for BJP candidate of Margherita. “He said many things about me. After April 4, I will go to Jalukbari constituency. There are many things about Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma which I will tell the people of Jalukbari constituency,” said Bordoloi. He further lambasted Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and called him an ‘opportunist leader’.  

Today at Udaipur Chowlung Chukafa Rangamancha, more than 50 active BJP workers of Margherita joined the Congress party. Meanwhile, Kalu Bahadur Lama, councilor of Jagun Gaon Panchayat, said that it was Pradyut Bordoloi who had given land pattas to Gorkha community people of Greater Jagun area and under Pradyut Bordoloi, all Gorkha community people were safe.

“In this assembly election, Congress candidate Pradyut Bordoloi will win with 40,000 votes against BJP vandidate Bhaskar Sharma,” said Kalu Bahadur Lama, Councilor of Jagun Gaon Panchayat.
