Himanta launches number of projects in Karbi Anglong

HOWRAGHAT/HAMREN/DIPHU, Jan 9: State Health, Fince and Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone of various buildings under NITI AAYOG. He iugurated the office of the Additiol Chief Medical and Health Officer (FW) in the building of Joint Director of Health Services, Karbi Anglong. Sarma also laid the foundation stone for the construction of state-of-the-art sports complex at Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) ground.

While pointing out on the allocation of various development funds, Dr Himanta Sarma said that an amount of Rs 94 crore had been released to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) for the developmental works under Central sponsored schemes and he added that the State Government was taking a comprehensive step to make Karbi Anglong  the number one district in Assam by providing more development funds.

Addressing the public gathering at the KASA stadium, Sarma admitted that Rs 94 crore had been released to Karbi Anglong during the Congress tenure, but few months back Rs 94 crore had been released by the BJP government just after coming to power. From the amount of Rs 94 crore, four luxurious schemes are being taken up. One is a sports complex at KASA ground, another sports complex at Donkamukam and a central auditorium hall at Hamren will be constructed in West Karbi Anglong district and Diphu river will also be beautified with the fund, Dr Sarma said.

The office of the Additiol Chief Medical and Health Officer was officially iugurated on Sunday. A 30-bedded hospital was announced at Bokajan as well as Baithalangso. Around Rs 235 crore has already been sanctioned by the State Government for the completion of Hills Medical College at Diphu. At least 1000 jobs will be created and the educated unemployed of Karbi Anglong will be engaged in the Grade III and IV posts. The advertisement for the 1,000 posts is likely to be made by April and appointment by October, the minister announced.  

He further said that government had plan of setting up a Hill University, a B. Pharmacist and Dental institute in the hill district.  Besides, while speaking about conducting TET, Sarma announced that KAAC would be empowered completely to conduct the TET exam separately. No approval of SIU for grade III and IV posts was needed. KAAC has been empowered to conduct interviews and it will be able to fill up the vacant post according to need, Sarma added.

Speaking on the demonstration staged by Congress against the demonetization move of the Union Government, Sarma termed Congress as invalid like the old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000. Sarma also highlighted the recently launched health schemes by the State Governemnt.

KAAC, CEM, Tuliram Ronghang thanked the State Government for releasing the Rs 94.11 crore one-time assistance of the Central Government. Out of the amount, Rs. 45 crores for sports complex at KASA stadium in Diphu, Rs.25 crore for another sports complex at Donkamukam and Rs 10 for auditorium at Hamren in West Karbi Anglong and Rs.10 crore for cleaning and beautification of Diphu river had been received, Ronghang said.

During the meeting, four MLAs Sum Ronghang, Joyram Engleng, Dr. Mansing Rongpi and Dr. Numal Momin and East Karbi Anglong District Committee BJP president Ratan Teron and West Karbi Anglong District Committee BJP president Arun Terang and EMs and MACs, KAAC were also present.
