Hitachi brings 'Green AIIMS concept' at AIIMS

New Delhi, April 3:  Hitachi, Ltd. (“Hitachi” / TSE:6501) and Hitachi India Pvt. Ltd. recently announced that they have been entrusted the implementation of “ICT-based Green Hospital Demonstration Project” at AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) New Delhi by New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). The project demonstration duration is for three years from March 2017 to March 2020. This demonstration project follows a feasibility study that Hitachi conducted at AIIMS New Delhi from April 2015 to February 2016 whose results were evaluated by NEDO. Under the ambit of this demonstration project, Hitachi will build an ‘ICT Platform’ infrastructure (ICT – Information and Communications Technology) for AIIMS New Delhi with the objective of reducing the hospitals’ power consumption by 30% (compared with fiscal year 2014, actual). This ICT Platform infrastructure will control and promote efficient energy consumption and clinical efficiency, thereby improving overall hospital operations.
Hitachi will install a new photovoltaic power generation facility, update existing facilities such as chiller, lighting etc. with highly efficient ones, as well as build a system to carry out control, grasp and monitoring of status of energy consumption of the entire hospital. In addition, Hitachi will accelerate electronic magement of medical image data by introducing energy-saving IT equipment. In future, Hitachi aims for further conservation of energy by integrating operatiol information obtained from utility and medical equipment, clinical information obtained from the hospital information system, weather information, etc. on the ICT Platform and devising an optimal operation plan for utility equipment. Through these efforts, Hitachi will contribute to realize the “Green AIIMS concept” through demonstrating the effectiveness of its energy magement system for the entire hospital.
