HNYF apprises SP (Traffic) of commuters’ woes

SHILLONG, Feb 13: The Hynniewtrep tiol Youth Front (HNYF), central body on Monday apprised the SP (Traffic), East Khasi Hills, ngkiew K Syiem, on the grievances faced by the general public due to the growing traffic congestion in and around Shillong city. Speaking to reporters after meeting the SP, KS Rani, vice president HNYF said, “The people in the city are facing many problems because of the growing traffic congestion and we have also put forward some suggestions from us to the SP with an aim to reduce the common traffic srl in the city.” He pointed out that the areas in the city commonly affected by the traffic congestion includes, Mawlai, Garikha, Barik point, Civil Hospital, Malki point, Laitumkhrah, Nongthymmai area, etc.

The HNYF has also urged the SP to identify proper embankment and disembarkment points for commuter vehicles to ease the traffic congestion in the city.

He informed that the SP has assured them that he will be taking their suggestions and examine the area’s most affected and come up with a proper solution to rectify the problem of traffic congestion.
