GUWAHATI: Police Commemoration Day (Smrity Divas) was organized under the aegis of Assam Police at Kahilipara in Guwahati on Sunday. The function witnessed homage being paid to 414 police personnel of different police forces of the country who laid down their lives while on duty across the country between September 1, 2017 and August 31, 2018. Two among the 414 police personnel who laid down their lives during the period are from Assam. They are SI Bhaskar Kalita and constable Anil Chandra Das. Among those from another state, 6 are from Andhra Pradesh, 1 from Andaman& Nikobar islands, 10 from Bihar, 25 from Chattisgarh, 13 from Delhi, 1 from Gujarat, 2 from Haryana, 46 from J & K, 15 from Karnataka, 6 from Kerala, 8 from MP, 3 from Maharashtra, 3 from Manipur, 1 from Meghalaya, 1 from Odisha, 1 from Rajasthan, 1 from Sikkim, 2 from Tamil Nadu, 2 from Telengana, 1 from Tripura, 67 from UP, 2 from Uttarakhand, 18 from West Bengal, 8 from Assam Rifles, 42 from BSF, 9 from CISF, 27 from CRPF, 20 from Fire Brigade/ Civil Defence and Home Guards, 34 from ITBP, 1 from NCB, 3 from NDRF, 25 from RPF and 1 from SSB.

The function was attended by Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia and several other senior police officials.
