Homen Borgohain visits Hornbill villages near Demow

DEMOW, August 25: Eminent jourlist and litterateur Home Borgohain visited Borbhui Chetia, Garihalichuk and Tepachalibam villages near Demow under Moran constituency on Thursday evening.

The environment lovers of Borbhui Chetia, Garihalichuk and Tepachalibam villages had preserved the Hornbill birds and created awareness among people due to which recently the Homen Borgohain Heuj Award was given to these villagers. The award was given by the Homen Borgohain Trust and regarding this, during his visit to Dibrugarh he wanted to see the villages.

Dr. Nirmal Sahewalla, environmentalist and writer, Dr. Pray Phukan, Arb Saikia, an environmentalist lover, along with Homen Borgohain reached Garihalichuk village and there at Jugurajan Primary School a general meeting was organized where Borgohain had an interaction with the people. The meeting was anchored by Suryya Kumar Chetia, an educationist as well as coorditor of Assam Bandhu, an NGO.

Homen Borgohain was felicitated in the meeting by the local people with a gamosa and a japi. In his speech, Borgohain thanked the people of the village for taking such wonderful steps. He also said that the great work done by the villagers was an inspiration not just for the people of Assam but also for the people of the country. He also planted a sapling in Jugurajan Primary School.
