Hon. Degrees conferred to Entrepreneurs by Meghalaya Governor at USTM Convocation Ceremony

GUWAHATI: For their outstanding contribution to the society at large, four eminent and internationally acclaimed personalities from different fields ranging from education and entrepreneurship to industry and philanthropy have received Hon D Litt and D Sc from the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) at a Special Convocation ceremony held at Central Auditorium of USTM on Monday. The Degrees were conferred by Tathagata Roy, Governor of Meghalaya and Visitor, USTM in the presence of Lakhmen Rymbui, Minister of Education, Meghalaya; Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor, USTM; Dr P K Goswami, Vice Chancellor, USTM, apart from others.

Receiving the Hon D Sc from University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya, the USA-based entrepreneur, philanthropist, author, civic leader, and thought leader Frank Fakhrul Islam said that students are the promised potential of the world and that “the growth of University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya in less than a decade shows that the University will soon be an educational empowerment zone”. The recipients of the Hon D Litt and D Sc Degrees include, UAE based entrepreneur and philanthropist Dr P A Ibrahim Haji, eminent educationist from Shillongand Former Chairman of UPSC, New Delhi Prof David R Syiemlieh; and the Singapore-based entrepreneur and industrialist Sudip Dutta. Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries, Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya expressed his gratitude to the four outstanding personalities from different parts of the world for showing their magnanimous gesture by accepting the honour conferred by University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya, stated a press release.
