Honour for writer gen Sakia

DIBRUGARH, Nov25: Noted litterateur and former president of Axom Xahitya Sabha, Dr. gen Saikia has been conferred with the title of “ Dibaru Bhoibhab” by one of the foremost  social and cultural organization of Dibrugarh ‘Mancharupa’ in a function organized at Lakshmith Bezbaruah Bhawan auditorium here recently. The felicitation ceremony was held as a part of the 60th foundation day of the association.

Dr Saikia, on behalf of the oldest cultural and social organization, was bestowed with the honor together with a citation, by adviser of Mancharupa, Dr Bipindra th Kakoti, working president Abdul Khaleque and recipient of tya Surya Phani Sarma award, Hasan Sharif Ahmed.

Saikia was also felicitated by several other organizations of the district including Axom Xahitya Sabha, Dibrugarh Nepali Samaj, Dibrugarh Art Players Society, Dibrugarh Branch Mahila Karmachari Association, Prayas, Akanksha and many other such organizations and institutions.

Dr Saikia in his speech called upon the cultural group Mancharupa which was formed in 1957, to boost up a more influential cultural movement in the coming days to enlighten the society.
