Horoscope and astrologically chosen name suggestions for newborns in Rajasthan hospitals

Guwahati: The Rajasthan government, in a bid to bring a new change into the maternity sections in the hospitals run by the state and privately, is working on a unique proposal. The government is proposing to provide horoscopes to all newborn babies in state-run and private hospitals along with also suggesting a name for them. The names provided through the horoscope will be based on their Hindu astrological sign and can be accepted and used by the parents if they want to.

In the very beginning, the scheme will be implemented in five government hospitals in Jaipur with horoscopes and name suggestions being provided to the newborn babies. These services of horoscope and name suggestion to the babies will be provided for free of cost. The second phase of the plan will be implemented with a charge of Rs 51 in the government hospitals and Rs 101 in private hospitals.

Notably, there are 16,728 government hospitals and 54 registered private hospitals in Rajasthan. As this was being promised by the Congress party in its 2018 Assembly election manifesto before coming into power in Rajasthan, it has now acted on its promises to assure people that the promises made will be kept and fulfilled by the party. Hence, the party has also indulged in promoting Sanskrit education and the Sanskrit language. For this, it has set up a Vedic rituals and education board in the state as well. It is a part of this promise made by the new government that the very proposal of horoscopes is being made.

As a part of this proposal, a meeting was held on January 3 after which the Jaipur-based Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Rajasthan Sanskrit University (JRRSU) was asked to firm up the plan. There are possibilities of the scheme being named as Rajiv Gandhi Janmapatri-Namkaran Yojana.

The proposal reads: “The scheme will help in the promotion of Sanskrit and Vedic knowledge and provide employment to at least 3,000 astrologers.”

The astrologers to be appointed in the hospitals as a part of the scheme should have a degree or diploma in astrology and once appointed, will get a licence from the state government.
