Horse carts, boats used to distribute gas connections under PMUY

Boko, Oct 26: Distribution of gas connections under Prime Minister Ujjwala Yoj (PMUY) is being done in the Boko area by Boko ndini Gas Agency. Earlier, ndini Gas Agency covered extremely remote villages in the Assam-Meghalaya border. On Wednesday, ndini Gas Agency delivered gas cylinders to another remote char in the Brahmaputra river with the help of boat and horse cart due to lack of any other form of transportation. More than 50 gas connections were distributed on Wednesday at Kholabandha Char under Chenga LAC in Barpeta district of Assam.

“So far we have distributed around 2,500 gas connections in remote area. As the villagers of the area are mostly illiterate, it is difficult to prepare their documents and at present that is our main challenge. We know they are right but most of documents have different mes. So the process is taking time,” said Bhaben Das, mager of the gas agency.
