'Hospital acting against MoA of KJP Assembly'

SHILLONG, August 10: Alleging that Dr. H Gordon Roberts Hospital, Shillong is acting against the Memorandum of Association passed and accepted by the Maging Committee of the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian (KJP) Assembly which states that the power to fix the pay of the medical superintendent and the administrative officer either on regular pay scale or contract basis falls solely with the Assembly, the local youths on Monday said, “Without the authorization of the Assembly the Medical Officer Dr. David Tariang, instead of withdrawing Rs. 22, 000 charge allowance which was set in the Memorandum of Association, he took out Rs. 60,000 and this goes against the KJP Assembly rules.”

“The Hospital use to sanction loans of Rs. 30,000 each year towards its staff, but after going through the hospital paperwork, we found that the Medical Officer acquired loans of more that Rs. 3 lakh and another Rs. 4 lakh,” Pawhaw, a local youth alleged.

Meanwhile, another youth, Kitboklang Nongphlang said that in another case one Dr. Rachel RA Rapsang was termited from the hospital after they were not able to accept her request for a maternity leave for nine months.

He informed that the leave application was communicated to the Medical superintendent on the month of May 2015, unfortutely two month later when the doctor was still in leave period, a letter was sent to her stating that her service was termited due to uvailability of such leave

He also stated that the rules do not allow such appointment as was done with Dr. M. Khaja Khalid was, MDS, because the appointment was made without any advertisement or announcement in the Church or any local newspapers.
