Hosts Indian will have biggest contingent in SAF Games

GUWAHATI, Dec 28: India will put the biggest contingent with 519 athletes in the 12th South Asian Games which be held in Guwahati and Shillong from February 5. Altogether 3307 athletes and officials will be the part in this 12-day sporting event.

It was expected that India, the host of the meet, will put maximum number of athletes and officials in the Game and there is no surprise at all. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh too sending big contingenet which will consists of 400 plus athletes and officials. On the other hand Bhutan, with 87 athletes, will have the smallest contingent among the participating tions .

The next edition of the Games will witness eight participating countries which included host India, Sri lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Pakistan. 23 disciplines included in the Games and these are archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, cycling, football, handball, hockey, judo, kabaddi, kho kho, shooting, squash, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, triathlon, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu.

Number of participating athletes (country wise): India-519, Sri Lanka-484, Bangladesh-409, Nepal-398,Pakistan-337, Afganistan-254, Maldives-184, Bhutan-87.
