House rent  allowance of tea garden  labourers hiked

Dibrugarh, June 12: A bilateral agreement was signed recently between Consultative Committee of Plantation Associations (CCPA) and Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) regarding an increment in the house rent of the permanent labourers staying outside the tea estates. A press release issued by ACMS specified that as per the agreement, the individual house rent of such a tea garden labourer has been increased from Rs 200 to Rs 300. The press communiqué further stated that the increased house rent has been put into effect from June 1, 2018. Additionally, it was also decided in the meeting that those permanent tea garden labourers who were, till now, not entitled to any housing allowances, would also start getting a monthly house rent of Rs 300 henceforth.
