HAMREN, Feb11: The third foundation day of Hill State Demand Council (HSDC) was observed centrally at the Diphu central office on Friday, which was presided over by Jotson Bey, convener of HSDC.
Earlier in the morning, the organizatiol flag was hoisted by Holiram Terang, convenor of HSDC, while the homage to martyrs was led by Jotson Bey. Beside, the third doundation day of the HSDC was also celebrated in all the 26th MAC constituencies of Karbi Anglong.
A meeting held on the occasion at the Diphu Central office discussed about the present political situation in Karbi Anglong and the need to strengthen the organization at the grassroots level to prepare the ground to defeat the BJP in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council election. After a lengthy discussion, the meeting adopted to resolutions. It was resolved to condemn the BJP for extending the term of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and refusing to conduct election even as the term ended on January 13, 2017. The meeting further decided to explore all options, including mass democratic movement, and to carry forward the battle in the court of law if the Gauhati High Court gave a negative verdict.
The meeting also vehemently condemned the BJP-ruled Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council for deciding to allot 500 bighas of land to Patajali company at the cost of the landless people of Karbi Anglong.
