HSPDP chides ex-Congress MLA for belittling party

 From A Correspondent

Shillong, Dec 18: The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) on Monday reacted sharply to the recent statement of former Congress MLA from Mawsynram, Pynshngain N Syiem.
It may be mentioned that on December 15, the day Syiem resigned from the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, he told the media that voters were fed up with United Democratic Party (UDP) and HSPDP. He had also said that, for a change, people were longing for People Democratic Front (PDF), the party he will formally join on Tuesday.
Reacting to the allegations, the HSPDP said that the indigenous Khasi-Jaintia people are now looking up to the party for the issues that it is taking up.
“The HSPDP-UDP alliance will do well in the upcoming 2018 Assembly election with love of the people and we are fully confident that the regiol alliance will form the next government,” the party said.
At the same time, the HSPDP also asked Syiem why he was criticising only the HSPDP, UDP and the Congress.
Syiem had also criticised the Congress saying that it would not come back to power this time as it was directionless and added that the Congress-led government had delayed filising the Village Administration Bill (VAB) and in the matter pertaining to extension of MUDA building bye laws to non-municipal areas for the last two years.
Syiem, who was twice elected on a Congress ticket from Mawsynram, was suspended in October last year for his alleged anti-party activities.
“Why is he not criticising other political parties? Do we foresee the PDF working together with the NPP and BJP after the election?” the party asked.
The HSPDP, therefore, warned the electorate to be vigilant and not be fooled in the me of the “jaidbynriew” (indigenous people).
“The party will expose the corruption of PN Syiem so that the public will come to know the truth and not be deceived,” the HSPDP added.
