HSPDP condemns SRS statement

A REPORTER

SHILLONG, Aug19: The members of HSPDP today in support of their leader Ardent M Basaiawmoit strongly condemned the statement made by the Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong (SRS) a conglomerate body of village traditiol chiefs/headmen which states that the meeting to discuss on the MUDA Building Bye-laws with Chief Minister Mukul Sangma scheduled on August 21 is for persol interest.

“We condemn this statement made by the SRS saying that Basaiawmoit is only thinking about his persol interest,” Latiplang Kharkongor MDC from Nongthymmai told media person here on Wednesday. He informed that they have also invited the SRS, NGOs and the general public to come forward and give their suggestions before they meet with the State government on August 21 to discuss on the MUDA Building Bye-laws.

He also said the meeting with the urban affair Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on August 6 was fruitful since some of the conditions set in the MUDA Building Bye-laws have been removed making it more convenient for the people, so the statement made by the SRS is baseless.

Expressing similar views Teilinia Thangkhiew MDC from Mylliem constituency said, “When we are fighting for the same issue instead of working together for the betterment of the people, the SRS are do the opposite by spreading false allegations and this has deeply saddened me.”

According to her, the Chief Minister has persolly invited them to meet him on August 21 to discuss on the issue then why can’t the SRS extend their hand and support them by giving constructive suggestions so that they can put it forward during the meeting instead of opposing the meeting and spreading false allegations.

Questioning the stand of the SRS, MDC from Sohryngkham constituency Pyniaid Sing Syiem said, “I want to question the leaders of the SRS for giving false hope to the people on 31 May 2015 during the meeting of a Grand Council or ‘Dorbar Bah Ka Bri Hynniewtrep’ by announcing that the 30 MDCs have agreed to pass the VAB 2015, when even the Special Session has not ended.”

Pyniaid said that the SRS is a body which comprises Headman and Traditiol Chief but how is it possible that even people who are not Headman of any village or locality can still be part of this conglomerate body of village traditiol chiefs and headmen.
