SHILLONG, Feb 10: The headman of Mawmuthoh village Nongkrem Hima Khyrim along with members of the village executive committee on Saturday condemned HSPDP leader Ardent M. Basaiawmoit for terming the headman of the village as a ‘street boy’.
Addressing reporters in the city, headman of Mawmuthoh Ribor Kharumnuid said, “The HSPDP MLA Basaiawmoit has called me a street boy and this has put a lot of stress on my family, especially my mother and it might even affect her health.” He alleged that Basaiawmoit in a recent house meeting had threatened him and that he would deal with the matter concerning the denial of permission to organize a meeting at the local dorbar hall after the election. He said the village should organize a collective dorbar (dorbar pyllun) in which the HSPDP chief should also be in attendance along with election officials to clarify his statement so that the people could know the truth and his family would be at peace.
