HSPDP to support Conrad in Tura bypoll

SHILLONG, May 8: The HSPDP has decided to support NPP candidate for Tura bypoll Conrad K Sangma. The Tura bypoll would be held on May 16.

The HSPDP in a press communiqué on Sunday also appeal to the people of Garo Hills to judiciously exercise their franchise.

The party said that Conrad K. Sangma would be the best choice for the people of Garo Hills and he would definitely be able fulfil the expectation of the people of Garo Hills in particular and the State in general.

“The party had also witnessed the capability of Conrad as a public leader. We have seen his performance as a legislator both in the capacity of a minister and the leader of the opposition,” party president Ardent Miller Basaiamoit said.

He said that it is also expected that he will find a suitable place to air the concerns and problems of the state especially in the present situation where the Chief Minister of the State has failed to convince the central government to bail out from various problems of the State.

“The people of Garo Hills will also have to decide whom they want to send to parliament whether a protestor who would have to spend most of the time in the street of Delhi together with the leaders of the Congress party or a facilitator who would passiotely mediate with the Central government on various issues and problems afflicting the state,” he said.
