Huge cache of ganja seized from Air Marshal’s hired cargo carrier

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 28: In a major achievement on the part of the Assam Police, a huge cache of ganja being brought from Upper Shillong in a cargo carrier hired by an Air Marshal was detected at Karigaon on NH-31 (C) in Kokrajhar on Monday evening at around 7.30 pm and after verification of carrier, the police in association with the Air Force officials could seized the ganja on Tuesday.

Talking to media persons, Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh said that after getting specific inputs; the police detected a big cargo carrier hired by Air Marshal R. mbier at Karigaon in Kokrajhar on Monday evening at around 7.30 pm. Since the carrier was hired by an officer of the Air Force, the officials of the Air Force were informed and called for verification and accordingly, the cargo carrier was properly verified and 19 packets of contraband ganja weighing 25 kg were found, he said, adding that the driver of the cargo, Anil Kumar and fourth grade employee of the Air Force, M. Swami were bbed while the handyman could mage to escape under the cover of darkness.

Singh said the cargo carrier bearing registration no. NL-012-1970 was loaded with the belongings of Air Marshal R. mbier who has been transferred from Upper Shillong in Meghalaya and was heading towards New Delhi. He also said that interrogation was going on and more details would be established after thorough investigation.
