Human trafficking racket busted

GUWAHATI, July 10: Human trafficking rackets are active in the city. The matter has come to light following a phone call from a victim, who was sold by traffickers in Delhi. The girl, a resident of Maligaon, went missing six months back. The family lodged a complaint at Jalukbari police station, but the police failed to trace her. However on July 8, the victim made a call to her mother and rrated the entire story. It has been learnt that one Ami Begum, sold her for Rs. 1.5 lakhs to a person in Delhi after alluring her with job offers. The person on the other hand sold her to another person in Harya for Rs. 2.5 lakhs. Meanwhile, police have arrested Ami Begum and on the basis of a fresh FIR lodged by the victims mother, a team of Jalukbari police have left for Harya to bring back the girl.
