Humayun's tomb, Iskcon temple in Delhi found to breed mosquitoes

New Delhi, May 29: The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Sunday issued notice to the authorities maintaining Humayun’s tomb, Iskcon temple, Gandhi Darshan and the Zoological Park for failing to prevent mosquito breeding in their premises. “SDMC inspected nine historical, tourist and religious places with substantial foot fall. On finding mosquito breeding at Humayun’s tomb, Iskcon temple, Zoological Park and Gandhi Darshan, notices were issued to their authorities,” said an official SDMC statement. The inspections were conducted during the last couple of days.

“The other places visited by the SDMC officials were Qutub Mir, Chhattarpur temple, Jahaj Mahal, Mehrauli and Lotus temple where no breeding was found after extensive checking,” the statement added. SDMC commissioner P.K. Goel has asked the Public Health Department to conduct regular checks, particularly of places attracting visitors, to prevent vector borne diseases. (IANS)
