Hunger strike by KMSS

From a Correspondent

DEMOW, May 5: Activists of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS),Demow Anchalik Samiti, staged a hunger strike on Tuesday demanding emergency service in Demow Hospital and increase of labour wages to Rs 169.

The hunger strike was launched under the leadership of president of KMSS Demow Anchalik Samiti, Joyjyoti Konwar and secretary Sanjay Prasad Sah, with 50 activists of the organization.

Last month the emergency service of Demow Hospital was shifted to newly-opened Demow Adarsha Hospital at Raichai which had caused problems for the rural people who were getting emergency service and medicines from Demow Hospital.

KMSS submitted a memorandum to the Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner and the Joint Director of Health in this regard a couple of days ago but when they allegedly took no measures, the organization staged the hunger strike.
