FROM OUR STAFF CORRESPONDENT

SHILLONG, Oct 1: The Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Hill State Peoples Democratic party (HSPDP) will meet next week to determine on the person who will take charge of the party that has been led by the late ‘Lion’ Hoping Stone Lyngdoh.

Hoping Stone Lyngdoh died last week and was buried on Tuesday with a legacy and with no heir apparent to the throne that he held for more than four decades.

Though some visualize the current vice president of the party Ardent Miller Basaiwmoit, as the man who can take the button, sources inside the party told The Sentinel that it is not an easy walk for him considering his tenure as a member in the party fold.

“We are still in a quandary after the demise of our great leader and collectively we will decide on the person who will take us ahead,” stated a senior party functiory while downplaying the reported differences within the party on the person who should carry on the legacy and impeccable integrity of the departed leader.

Nevertheless, as the HSPDP come into terms with the demise of the ‘Lion’ who roared till his last breathe, political alyst observed that there are many leaders in the party with ‘manes’ who will look to take over his position.
