Hunt for ULFA militants continues, IED recovered in Noloni reserve forest

DIGBOI, October 26: Following the recent entry of an armed group of ULFA militants in Tinsukia district, the security forces have been put on alert to thwart the disruptive activities of the banned Paresh Baruah-led militant faction by conducting search operations in various vulnerable pockets of the entire district, including the Assam-Aruchal border.

Security forces recovered an IED, magazines, torch lights, blankets and jackets here on Monday evening during the operation conducted in Noloni reserve forest in Pengaree in Tinsukia district by joint security forces of Madras and Kumaon Regiment in association with team Pegree Police, being led by OC JS Warry.

According to sources, following the encounter with the security forces, the militants maged to escape but the security forces are confident of desirable result soon as the entire green belt has been surrounded by security forces.  Latest reports confirmed encounter followed by intense combing operation and various significant developments in the reserve forest. Meanwhile, no report of death or casualty has been received till filing of this report.
